Body of man missing for two years discovered in Lévis, Quebec

The body discovered Wednesday afternoon on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Lévis is that of an octogenarian who had been missing for two years.

The Sûreté du Québec confirmed the identity of the victim on Thursday. It is Léopold Beaudoin, 84, from Deschaillons, in Center-du-Québec.

The man had been wanted for “about two years,” the SQ said in a statement.

The police did not detail the circumstances of his death. The remains of the individual were found, in a state of advanced decomposition, floating on the river, behind a residence on St. Lawrence Street.
