Emergency Services searching Normanby waterway in Ontario for missing male.

UPDATE:

The body of a 55-year-old man has been pulled from a private lake in Normanby Township after he went missing while canoeing.

The West Grey Police Service responded to a residence in the township on Wednesday after the man was reported missing.

The West Grey Fire Department, the Hanover Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Unit and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit conducted an extensive search of the area waterways for the man. The man’s body was later recovered from the lake Wednesday evening.

A coroner will be attending the scene and will be working with officers to determine the circumstances that lead to the man’s death.

On Wednesday August 14th 2019, the West Grey Police Service was dispatched to attend a Normanby Township residence for report of a 55 year old male who went missing while canoeing on a private lake. The West Grey Fire Department and the Hanover Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Unit have partnered with the West Grey Police Service in a search of the area and the area waterways for the missing male. An extensive search of the waterways will be underway with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
