RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing senior who has not been seen or heard from since he left his central Nanaimo home on or around Nov. 27.
Rolf Erhard Oehme, 81, recently missed several planned home visits from the Nanaimo Seniors Outreach Team, including one scheduled for Nov. 27. Police said due to the missed visitations and that he was recently released from an extended stay in hospital, his support workers are extremely worried for his safety and well-being.
Police said they have learned that prior to Nov. 27, Oehme tried to buy a plane ticket to a country in Europe but he was prevented from doing so due to his medical conditions. He may have been able to use public transportation to leave Vancouver Island, police said.
Oehme does not drive and has no immediate family living on Vancouver Island. He is known to wear the same clothes for an extended period of time. Oehme is described by a police as a Caucasian man who speaks with a strong German accent. He is 5’11” (180 cm), 150 pounds (68 kg), with white hair and glasses. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, track pants with white stripes on the side and white runners. He may have a black travel bag with him.
Anyone with information on Oehme’s whereabouts is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
