May is Missing Children’s Month in Saskatchewan

May is missing children’s month in Saskatchewan as Child Find Saskatchewan starts its 28th Green Ribbon of Hope campaign.

Child Find spokesperson Sue Ramsay says there are 136 current missing persons in Saskatchewan meaning there are 136 families and communities affected wondering what exactly happened and how someone could just disappear.

Having a missing person in your family is a loss that can’t be compared to anything else, “Ramsay said. “It is called an ambiguous loss. You don’t know if they are alive, you don’t know what happened to them. You don’t have a place to grieve, you never have a means to bury and you are constantly asking questions.”

May also marks the start of Child Find’s annual green ribbon campaign. This is the 28th year of that program with ribbons available throughout the province at various locations.
