At 9:40 p.m. on June 3, Barrington RCMP received a call indicating that a person was missing. A group of friends were four wheeling in the Upper Clyde River area near Shelburne when a member of their group became separated on their way back to camp around 7:00 p.m.
The group searched for two hours but were unsuccessful in locating their missing friend. Shelburne County Ground Search and Rescue was deployed and searched the area throughout the night and into the morning. Yarmouth County Ground Search and Rescue continued the search this morning with the help of ATV’s and a helicopter. At approximately 10:30 a.m today, the missing person made a 911 call with his cell phone. Ground Search and Rescue and the helicopter were able to use the coordinates from the call to determine the person’s location. The helicopter was used to retrieve the person and safely remove them from the woods.
The Nova Scotia RCMP would like to thank our partners for their assistance and the volunteers from Shelburne County Ground Search and Rescue and Yarmouth County Ground Search and Rescue for their hard work and dedication in bringing this search to a successful conclusion.
