UPDATE: A 46-year-old man missing for days near Nova Scotia’s Kejimkujik National Park has been found safe, police have confirmed.
UPDATE: A nine-year-old girl reported missing while on a weekend canoeing trip in western Nova Scotia has been found safe, but the 46-year-old man she was with has yet to be found.
RCMP and ground search and rescue teams are at Kejimkujik National Park in search of a missing father and nine-year-old daughter who did not return from a canoe trip when expected on July 1.
RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Clarke said three search teams are involved, plus a Cormorant helicopter from 14 Wing Greenwood. An RCMP helicopter is on standby to augment the Cormorant search.
Also involved is the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax.
Clarke said boats are also being mobilized for a shoreline search.
Annapolis County Ground Search and Rescue noted on its Facebook page late July 1 that it was activated for a mission but did not give further details.
Clarke said the call about the missing canoeists came in at around suppertime on Canada Day. She did not have any additional information.
