Saskatoon girl, 15, reports fending off would-be abductor with a skateboard

Police in Saskatoon say a 15-year-old girl reportedly used her skateboard to fight off a man who hit her and tried to force her into a white pickup truck.

On Monday around 5:30 p.m. CST, the teenage girl showed up to the front desk at their downtown headquarters suffering from minor injuries, according to a news release.

The young victim told police she had been walking in an alley in the 3200 block of Milton Street, in west-side neighbourhood Massey Place, when she was approached by a man in a pickup truck who offered to give her a ride.

The girl refused. She told police the man then jumped out of the truck and struck her twice in an effort to force her into the vehicle. The 15-year-old fought back, hitting the suspect with her skateboard.

The suspect then drove off in what the victim described as a white 2016 Dodge Ram truck with an Alberta license plate. The suspect is described as about 50-years-old with grey hair and a grey mustache with stubble. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants.

The victim was treated for minor injuries by a paramedic.
