A man and woman have been charged with abduction after a seven-year-old girl was reported missing early Saturday.
The girl had last been seen in the area of Tremblay Road and Avenue S at 10 p.m. Friday, and was noticed missing at 6 a.m. Saturday. A little after noon Saturday Ottawa police announced that she “has been located and is being reunited with her family.”
Investigators from the major crime unit later announced she was found “safe and sound at a home nearby. The girl was not harmed or injured during the time she was missing from her Tremblay Rd. area home.”
On Sunday evening police announced that a man and woman unrelated to the girl’s family have been charged with abduction of a child under the age of 14. Both of the accused were released on a promise to appear in court later.
Investigators were not available Sunday evening and there were no further details available, but police added they don’t believe there is any danger to the public.
